What is the best way to clean your iPhone?
There are thousands of bacteria on an iPhone. This is because you use your iPhone everywhere: in bed, on public transport, and even in the bathroom. Now that COVID-19 is spreading again, it's important to clean your iPhone regularly. We give you five tips to properly clean your iPhone! Ideally, do this every week, but if you don't have time, then at least every month.
1) Disconnect all cables and turn off the iPhone
Let’s start at the beginning. Before you clean your iPhone, it's a good idea to disconnect all the cables. So, don't charge your iPhone while cleaning it. It’s also helpful to temporarily turn off your iPhone. This way, you can thoroughly clean the screen without it turning on constantly.
2) Use a microfiber cloth
Clean your iPhone with a microfiber cloth. You can buy a microfiber cloth for just a few euros online or at stores like Action. You don't really need any cleaning agents to clean your iPhone with a microfiber cloth. The cloth itself absorbs dust and greasy fingerprints.
However, it’s useful to dampen the cloth slightly with some water beforehand. If you still want to kill extra bacteria on the screen, you can always use a cleaning spray for smartphones. Important: don’t spray the cleaning spray directly on the screen, but first on the cloth. Then, use your hand to make circular motions over the screen. Be careful: don’t use a towel or tea towel for this! These are too rough and can damage the screen. So, only use a microfiber cloth.

3) Don’t use alcohol wipes (disinfecting wipes)
What you should avoid using are alcohol wipes or disinfecting wipes. These wipes are too harsh for the screen. If you use these wipes regularly, you risk the screen becoming less responsive to touch over time.
4) Clean all the ports and corners of your iPhone
Every iPhone naturally has a Lightning connector, built-in microphones, and stereo speakers. Over time, dust and crumbs collect in these small openings. By blowing forcefully a few times, you can remove most of the dirt. Want to clean it more professionally? Use a can of compressed air to blow away all the dirt. You can also buy a can of compressed air for just a few euros.
5) Wash your hands regularly
Yes, it’s also a COVID-19 rule, but this tip is just as important for keeping your iPhone clean. You touch all sorts of things with your fingers and hands, which brings a lot of bacteria onto your hands. Then, when you touch your iPhone with your hands and fingers, these bacteria are transferred to it. By washing your hands often, the screen of your iPhone stays cleaner too!
